Easy Things to Prep For Back to School Season

The end of the year is here (and maybe you’re even on Summer break already), but the HUGE Back to School to-do list looms over us already. I like to do a few easy, mindless tasks before the year ends (or at the beginning of the Summer while I’m still in “work” mode) to make the Back to School season much easier for me when August rolls around. Read about each task below!

Why not have a class set of all your Meet the Teacher Items already prepped and read to go?! I print everything, put a large rubber band around it all and slip it into a box labeled “Back to School” so that I can find it when we come back from the Summer.

It you haven’t already put together Math or Reading Tool Kits, Summer is the time! I place all of my math and reading tools/manipulatives in mini task boxes and let each student keep one inside their desk for the year.

I use the Summer to “freshen up” my boxes (add anything that may have gone missing during the year, replace any damaged tool kit cards, etc.)

I give each student a “Smencil” (smelly pencil) for their birthday gift and each Smencil has this cute gift tag at the top. I grab my Smencils on Amazon here, and you can print and prep these gift tags so that you’re ready for all student birthdays in the upcoming school year.

My Star Student bin is full of fun supplies for my Star Student of the Week to use, and when is a better time to buy fun supplies than Back to School season?

Read more about Star Student of the Week here.

This is a HUGE task off your to-do list: printing all of your first week of school activities! My First Week of School Plans pack includes complete lesson plans and all activities needed for the first week. You seriously don’t have to plan or think about a single second of the first week because I’ve done it all for you. Just print and store away in your “Back to School” bin and thank yourself later. You’ll actually get to enjoy your Summer!

I like to make sure my Sub Binder is up to date so that it’s easy to fill in all the rest of the info when I get my new class roster.

Printing all of my Student Take Home Folder inserts and assembling them before the end of the year crosses off one more thing on my Back to School to-do list!

This task goes hand in hand with prepping for Meet the Teacher. Print all your Back to School Forms now so that you don’t have to later! Stick them in your “Back to School” bin so that you can keep it all together and find it again once August rolls around!

I prepped my Student Folder Offices one Summer several years ago, and they’ve stayed strong and held up for 5+ years! Print all your inserts, glue them into two file folders, glue the file folders together, and send the entire “office” through a large laminator. This is such an easy thing to prep in the Summer, and totally mindless too!

Imagine getting a piece of “happy mail” from your new teacher come August. Can’t you picture the sweet toothless grins?! These Scratch Off Welcome Postcards are sooo much fun, and you can print and prep them before the year ends so that you’re ready to send them in August when you get your class list!

Laminate and Cut New Classroom Decor/Visuals

I love cutting lamination while watching Netflix or sitting by the pool. Am I weird for that?! It’s kind of therapeutic!

My Rainbow Classroom Decor and Rainbow Classroom Management Visuals can be easily printed and prepped before Back to School season!

Let me know if you end up prepping any of these things before Back to School season- I know you’ll be thanking your past self!!
