Easy Ways to Practice Fact Fluency

If you’re as old as I am, you’ll remember the dreaded timed math tests with rows and rows of addition, subtraction, or multiplication facts on each page. There’s nothing that made me sweat more than seeing my classmates finish their fact fluency tests before I did- so I made it a vow to never give my future students a timed fact fluency test! There are sooo many better ways to practice math facts! See some of my faves below!

Want your students practicing math fact fluency every day in math centers, but aren't sure how to do it in a low-prep way?! Practice addition facts, subtraction facts, and multiplication facts, and more with this Grab and Go Fact Fluency game that can be played individually as a math center or used as an independent practice activity.

This 5-in-a-Row game can be played individually or with a partner, and it is color-coded so that it stays organized for the years to come! I set this up as a center and let students play it all year long. You can read more about how to play it and set it up here.

Practice making 10 in many ways with these activities, games, and crafts! Make 10 on ten frames, with dominoes, number bonds, shake and spill, and more!

Give students a fun and engaging way to practice their friends of 10 in math centers or have a fun-filled review day!

These games are perfect for students to play individually or with a partner! They are very low-prep also, just print and play with dice or a spinner! There will be a combination of dice and spinner games in each monthly game pack, with lots of opportunities to practice math facts.

Monthly Math Around the Room is super easy to prep, and it includes 22 math concepts for you to choose from each month! No matter what math concept you're teaching or reviewing, this resource can be used year after year because you have tons of choices! Allowing students to be up and moving is a fantastic way to keep students engaged!

These no prep print and go pages make perfect independent work, review, assessments, practice, morning work, or work to leave for a substitute! These no-prep printables are sure to liven up your math block and help students build fact fluency!

Put them in a dry erase pocket for students to complete over and over as a center or workstation, or have them do them independently and turn them in.

I hope you are able to use some of these fact fluency ideas in your classroom! Let me know if you have questions, I would love to hear from you!
